History

The History of Limón

The Limón concept was born on a Sunday afternoon, a time where family and friends enjoyed Mama Luz’s family recipes, like ceviche, empanadas, lomo saltado, and of course spectacular wines. With the invaluable support of mother Luz, all the Castillo’s brothers Antonio, Eduardo, Martin, Ana and husband Aldo opened Limón on July 11, 2002 in a 45-seat establishment at 17th and Valencia streets in San Francisco.

As Limón quickly became renowned for delicious and savory Peruvian dishes with whispering influences of India, China, Japan, Italy, Spain, flavors and style, the Castillo’s Family decided to move the restaurant around the corner to 524 Valencia Street in order to accommodate more guests. The new facility seats up to 100 and includes a bar and lounge area. After much success in the bay, it was time for LIMON to conquer the Valley.

On December 27th, 2008, Mama Luz introduced the new concept of Peruvian cuisine to Fresno and is now nominated for the 2008 Best of the Valley Restaurant Awards in the category of "Best Newcomer."
